Ambuyat

The following pics are Brunei local dish Ambuyat...... however, the photos are taken at two location: one at home (2 weeks ago) and the other at the famous (at least in Brunei) Aminah Arif Restaurant. You can visit this site to get more info about the Ambuyat.

Personally, this is a great family gathering dish - we usually have this during the weekends when we get together at my dad's place or they come over to my crib.

Ambuyat @ Aminah Arif

Ambuyat and the condiments: sliced roast beef, tapioca shoot (soup?) and the sambal blend of binjai and tempoyak... Yummy!

Also sliced carrots and cucumber, with Sambal Belacan (Shrimp Paste)

My personal favourite: Udang Kari (Curry Prawn) and the Sambal Binjai and Tempoyak. My wife makes the best sambal binjai/tempoyak.

Wow. Agak berlainan lauk-lauk orang brunei. Ambuyat. Nama pon sangat cool. Ambuyat. Ambuyat. Hehehe.[I assume its the white sticky looking thingy?]

Ya kah Puan G buat tempoyak paling best? Katanya Puan G pulak, Tuan G yang sukaaaa ke dapur.. Hehehe.

PS: Orang brunei makan pakai chopstick kah? o_0

Hi OB....

Yes, its the white sticky starchy thing heheh... i think cuma this dish yang berlainan, cos yang lain tu sama saja lah, macam otak2, we have a wider version, whihc kitaorang call 'Pais'.

Ya kah? Mr G suka experiment lah kat dapur, still kira trainee hehe.

That wooden thingy macam choppstick tu is 'candas', specially untuk makan ngan ambuyat.

I've heard of ambuyat before - the famous 'must-try' dish if you are in Brunei.

And of course, kenalah puji isteri sendiri kan, right Mrs G?

Hi Mr G!

Hehe. Thanks for the offer. Insyaallah akan sampai to Brunei...bila tak tahu lagi.

Seafood...Newton mmg mahal! I always go to Chai Chee Seafood at Changi Rd. Must try Chili Crab. Sedap and value for money. Big crabs and prawns but still cheap compared to Newton. Thr's two seafood eatery along Changi Road, Chai Chee Seafood and Kampung Chai Chee. I prefer Chai Chee Seafood. Mak's place is also along Changi Road but so so to me. Thr's a few halal eateries along Changi Road. Another must try is the Bagus Yong Tau Foo. very very nice!
